You may think after the carnivals, Folk Week, Lark in the Park, Margate Soul Fest and Pride, that there couldn’t possibly be more fantastic events on the isle.

Well, brace yourselves, because now it is time for a day of brilliant free events at the annual Broadstairs water gala.

The event celebrates the best of the traditional English seaside, with a packed programme including beach competitions, water activities, nautical characters, all day entertainment, family funfair and a firework display.

And this year Titan the Robot will be appearing at the Water Gala on the Bandstand.

When is it?

Wednesday, August 23, 8am to 10.30pm

From 8am to 10.30pm, starting early with the Seashore Safari at Louisa Bay,

Titan The Robot

Titan the Robot will be appearing for three shows during the day at the Bandstand, noon, 2pm and 4pm.

Live music from Helluvaday on the bandstand from 8pm, funfair, plus firework display

The firework display takes place over Viking Bay at 9.45pm. Make sure you get there in plenty of time to get you place. There is plenty of room to see the display along the seafront, promenade, jetty, bandstand area and Victoria Gardens.

Getting there


The Thanet Loop (link here) runs every 10 minutes and the closest bus stops are on Queens Road, less than 5 minutes from the seafront.


Southeastern Trains run two services in and out of Broadstairs, the standard North Kent line and the High Speed line into Kings Cross St. Pancras.

The train station is less than a 10 minute walk from Viking Bay straight down the High Street.


Parking can be found at the recently re-opened Vere Road Car and Coach Park CT10 1JF where there is space for 12 coaches and 42 cars as well as disabled parking bays and public toilets.

The train station car park offers over 100 spaces and is less than a 10 minute walk from Viking Bay.
