It is almost time for the annual Broadstairs Water Gala which is packed with free, family events.

It takes place on Wednesday August 1, to coincide with tide times to ensure that the usual water-based activities can go ahead.

It is sponsored by Broadstairs & St Peters Chamber of Commerce members and local businesses and includes a funfair, live music, fireworks and Titan the robot as well as lots of family fun and competitions.

9am Teddy bears picnic at Lilliputt Mini Golf

10am onwards Try out paddleboard sessions with Kent Surf School

10am onwards Beach games and competition with Your Leisure

11am, 1pm and 3pm Magic balloon shows at Broadstairs bandstand

11am Crabbing competition, Registration 9.30am at the desk on the pier by the boathouse

11am Sandcastle and sculpture competition within jetty area of the beach by the Lifeboat station

Noon, 2pm and 4pm Titan the robot at the bandstand

Noon, 2,30pm and 4.30pm Punch and Judy on the beach (Pavilion end)

12.30pm King Neptune at the shoreline

1pm Millers and Sweeps battle in the bay

1pm (approx.) RNLI lifeboats at the jetty

3pm Judging for best decorated beach hut. Entries to be registered by noon at the Visitor Information Kiosk

8pm to 10.30pm Music at the bandstand with The Curb Pilots

9.45pm Fireworks over the bay

All day – face painting, characters, sea shanty performances on the prom and funfaur on the green running until 10.30pm
