The cost of living crisis is impacting us all. People are struggling to pay rising costs for rent, heating, food and more. Small businesses are also struggling, utility costs for premises are going through the roof.

The Isle of Thanet News relies on business advertising to run the site but many businesses are having to cut their costs to cope with the impact of higher bills.

We are also facing the struggle of rising bills and so are asking those of you who use our service and can afford to donate to do so, to keep your local, free to read news viable.

The Isle of Thanet News is an independent, Thanet business, run on small margins. There are no shareholders taking pay outs, the site just needs to provide running costs and one salary for the seven day a week news service it provides.

We share the news that matters to Thanet people, from the goings-on at council  to the personal achievements of our residents, businesses and schools. We supplied as many help and information lists as possible during covid and produced a printed edition of all that information that was distributed by groups including the Ramsgate Town Team during socially distanced food bank deliveries.

We have been the first, and sometimes only, source for news of issues such as Glo Gen church and its closure, the children’s doctor arrested for trying to arrange sex with a 14 year old, the demise of the top officer team at Thanet council, the landmark family case taken to Judicial Review, the problems at Florence Court Hotel for those awaiting temporary accommodation, the Turner Contemporary tribunal case, the Margate Digital delay and withdrawal of The Margate School and campaigns and appeals from the groups trying the halt overdevelopment of the isle to individual efforts to raise money including the pensioner whose savings for his own funeral were stolen to the Westwood mum appealing for coats to keep struggling families warm.

We want to continue telling your stories, giving people a voice when they need to be heard and sharing your battles, triumphs and events.
