Return of the annual RNLI junior fishing competition

The Annual RNLI junior fishing competition returns

The Annual RNLI junior fishing competition returns on Friday 25th August.

In addition to raising funds for the Ramsgate RNLI station the youngsters also learn about safety at sea and what lives in the waters around our coast.

Organisers are looking for sponsors for raffle prizes and local businesses also have the opportunity to sponsor a boat.

Thanks to the generosity of Angling Direct and Flambeau all entrants will receive a prize of a rod, reel and tackle box. There will also be prizes awarded in a range categories.

The fishing competition start time is 8am with sign in at 9am and out to sea for fishing from 10am until 2pm

Following the event, at about 2.30pm, there will be prizegiving and raffle followed a  barbecue and social at the lifeboat station.

Sponsor forms for children are available at Fisherman Corner.

The RNLI launches boats to save people in trouble at sea and also provides the Lifeguard service on Thanet’s beaches during the season.

In previous years more than £15,000 has been raised by children getting sponsorship to fish in the competition.
