Botany Bay features in new Foals music video

The Foals video was shot at Botany Bay

Botany Bay features in the latest music video released by English rock band Foals today.

The bay provides the backdrop for the song which is the closer on the Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2 album.

The band, formed in 2005, has a current line-up of lead vocalist and lead guitarist Yannis Philippakis, drummer and percussionist Jack Bevan, rhythm guitarist Jimmy Smith and keyboardist Edwin Congreave. They are signed to Warner Records.

Botany Bay has also featured in a music video by Emile Sande and been the backdrop for Vera – with Brenda Blethyn- and a Burberry ad campaign amongst others.

Thanet’s title as a film and fashion shoot hotspot has grown over the last decade – and more than 70 productions chose the isle as a location, shooting for a total of 111 days, in the 2018/19 financial year.

The filming boom is aided by Thanet council’s dedicated film officer Sharon Kelley, who works closely with the Kent Film Office (KCC) to liaise with production companies.

Based on the size of the crews and the length of time they stayed in the area it is estimated that the benefit to the local economy is in excess of £304,000, just for that one year..
