ITV camera crews are currently at Botany Bay filming an advert with actress Brenda Blethyn in her role as the detective Vera.
In the crime drama she plays DCI Vera Stanhope who is obsessive about her work. The ad is thought to be a promo trailer for the latest season of programmes to be screened on the channel.
The beach area where the crew is filming is currently shielded from public view.
Brenda is staying at the Botany Bay Hotel and more filming on the isle is expected.
A spokesperson from Thanet council’s filming department said they were unable to reveal details of today’s shoot but added: “We are really pleased that location manager Eugene Strange has brought another production to the area. Eugene’s previous visit was in 2017 for King of Thieves. He recommended the area to the production. We will be able to reveal more in 2019!”
