Hotel Chocolat coming to Westwood Cross.

Good news for chocolate lovers

Hotel Chocolat is coming to Westwood Cross.

The upmarket chocolatier chain, which has its own Saint Lucia cocoa farm, is expected to open at the shopping centre this Summer.

The chain began in London in 2004 and was the creation of entrepreneurs, Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris.

Today, there are 126 stores, as well as cafés, restaurants, outlets, and factory stores. There are 40 stores in Japan, and a luxury eco-hotel on a working cacao farm in the Caribbean.

The chocolatier business is currently advertising for staff members, saying: “As we continue our mission to make people happy through chocolate, we’re opening brand new stores this year and we’re coming to Thanet Westwood Cross this Summer.”

The business sells  luxury gifts, alcohol and its drinking chocolate system, the Velvetiser.

Currently the nearest store is in Canterbury.

It has not yet been revealed which unit the store will take over.

Westwood Cross and Hotel Chocolat declined to comment ‘for now.’

An assistant store manager position and sales advisor roles are currently being advertised on Indeed at: https://uk.indeed.com/cmp/Hotel-Chocolat/jobs

  1. People moan about fast food restaurants opening for making people obesity. Yet people welcome a chocolate shop which adds to obesity.

      • Really Ms.Pink

I’m sure I’ve read posts when you have moaned about over weight people. That people should do more exercise and eat healthy.

Seems double standards to me to moan about over weight people who like fast food. But over weight people who like chocolate is fine.

        • What I meant is that I’m NOT one of those who welcome the opening of what is basically a sweet shop. That said, surely it’s just replacing Thorntons?

    • They did do their homework, and the answer to your question is, many thousands. The same people who can afford all the ‘expensive’ restaurants and bars around here.

      • I too believe it will be a success. It’s not like they’re opening a green grocers, fishmongers or healthfood store, all which would be doomed to fail.

  2. Fanastic just what we need … more junk food to poison the body. Throw in another kebab shop while you’re there as I’m not sure we have enough already … also if you could include a few more KFC and McDonald’s just to maximise the level of obesity and poor health in the Thanet population
