A building in Ramsgate that partially collapsed on Wednesday (September 18) has been demolished.
The property on the corner of Plains of Waterloo and Bellevue Avenue was pulled down last night.
A Thanet council spokesperson said: “The building has been completely demolished. It was agreed with a structural engineer and Building Control that the building was dangerous and would have to be removed down to the ground.”
Three people were arrested on suspicion of arson and two people received minor injuries, with one taken to hospital and one treated at the scene, following the partial collapse.
The third storey of the corner property crumbled with debris falling across the road at around 10.10pm on Wednesday. A huge crack also appeared in the lower part of the building. Residents in nearby buildings were evacuated while the scene was made safe.
The scene was initially attended by police, crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) and the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident while officers work with KFRS to establish the circumstances of the fire.
“While at the scene, officers have also found a cannabis cultivation in a nearby building.”
