A bucking bronco, bake off and a riotous kids rave will take centre stage at this year’s Cliftonville Games.

The annual summer event which started off as a sports day in Dane Park has gone all out this year celebrating the community with a host of activities on offer.

Returning is the ever-popular dog show and in the spirit of the original sporty schedule, Your Leisure will be holding classic races at the Oval where the Games have been held since last year.

Families who want to compete in events with a twist can enter Wonky Races where kids may get the chance to dress their parents for competitions.

Organiser and Gordon Road Area Street Scheme (GRASS) member Stephen Darrer says there will be something for everyone on the day. “I am so excited for this year’s games. It is much bigger with music (all local bands) continuing until 8pm and there’s our Cliftonville Classrooms which are TED-talk style events and feature talks from people around Thanet.

“This year we also have the Cliftonville Bake Off which will be judged by Gillian from Batchelors baker. There are classic races such as your egg and spoon race and the kid’s rave Fluffy Little Clouds will be playing.”

More than 40 stalls will be selling crafts and food with a special performance from Cliftonville schools led by Creative Voices.

Cliftonville Classrooms also takes place with thirteen-minute talks that are short and engaging. The talks will cover topics that matter to the whole community, environment, wellbeing and Health and innovation and will also have a focus on the over 50s.
