Five days of adventure for St Laurence Junior Academy pupils

Adventure for pupils from St Laurence Junior Academy

Pupils from St Laurence Junior Academy in Ramsgate have spent five days enjoying adventures at Condover Hall with activity company JCA.

Filled with excitement, the 36 Year 6 pupils set off to Shropshire to participate in the first residential to take place since 2019 due to the covid pandemic. With a final wave to the adults they were leaving behind, the coach was filled with song, laughter and anticipation as they set off on the journey.

Over the course of the week, pupils were able to take part in activities from abseiling to archery and sensory trail to survival skills. Never a dull moment, adults on the trip reported that the activities on offer were just right to encourage children to be adventurous and step outside their comfort zone – a culture embraced by adults and children alike.

Mrs Keeley, Group Lead and Year 6 teacher, said: “The centre was fantastic; very well organized so that the balance between activities and rest time was just right. All children were able to participate in activities as there truly was something for everyone.”

Teacher Mrs Goldsmith added: “The centre was one of the best that I have attended. All meals were exceptionally well catered and staff were very helpful and friendly.”

As the children arrived back at school on Friday, it was clear what a fantastic time had been had as, despite the bleary eyes ,there was  a buzz of excitement as the youngsters could not wait to tell their tales of adventure to their families.
