Pupils at Priory Infant School in Ramsgate laced up their trainers and embraced the spirit of determination during the school’s first-ever Sports Values Day.
The event focused on the importance of fitness and perseverance, encouraging children to lead healthy, active lives both in and out of school.

Throughout the day, pupils took part in a range of fun, fitness-based challenges designed to test their stamina, teamwork, and determination. Activities included the Mile Long School challenge, an Obstacle Course, a Skipping Challenge, and a Jumping Challenge, where children’s scores were recorded and certificates awarded to top performers.
Each year group also presented a special Determination Medal to a pupil who had shown exceptional effort, resilience, and positivity.

Headteacher Mrs Sellwood praised the pupils’ enthusiasm and commitment, saying: “It was wonderful to see every child giving their best and supporting one another. The theme of determination really shone through in everything they did, and it’s a value we hope they’ll carry with them well beyond the sports field.”

Determination is one of the school’s six key Sports Values, which include respect, honesty, passion, teamwork, and self-belief. Each value will be celebrated with its own dedicated Sports Values Day over the course of the school year, allowing pupils to explore and demonstrate the importance of each one through a variety of activities and challenges.
The day was organised by Mr Holmes, who ensured every pupil had the opportunity to get involved, stay active, and have fun. The school community extended a heartfelt thank-you to him for planning such a successful and inspiring event.

Lovely little school. My daughter is very happy there. It has the feeling of a village school in the middle of Ramsgate, due to the small numbers of students in each class.
