Amateur dramatics group Minster Playhouse is preparing for one of its most ambitious shows yet with an adaptation of the C.S. Lewis classic The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe this December at the Minster Village Hall.
The cast will take to the stage from Wednesday 3 December to Saturday 6 December.
In an effort to bring the fantastical elements of the iconic Narnia to life, the cast and crew are employing an array of physical effects – none being more striking than the life-sized puppet of Aslan the lion, which is being constructed and puppeteered specifically for this show.
The Minster Playhouse has previously tackled adaptations of Frankenstein, A Christmas Carol and And Then There Were None – and director Fiona Pearse has high hopes for her cast to put on a wonderful show.
Fiona said: “Our talented local cast have been working extremely hard to bring this classic tale The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to life. A magical story of courage, friendship and the triumph of good over evil.”
Assistant director Liam Brown added: “This has been a real mammoth undertaking, with a really demanding production and a cast and crew of varying ages and experience levels, but fingers crossed that it’s going to turn out spectacularly. Given all of the effort, dedication and love that’s been poured into the show by everyone involved, we hope that people come along to support local theatre and experience the wonder of Narnia!”
