A Ramsgate man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after multiple emergency service vehicles attended a report of an overturned car in Ramsgate last night (May 14).
Police, paramedics and the fire service were called to La Belle Alliance Square at 7.15pm.
Two fire crews attended and had to release a 51-year-old Ramsgate man from the vehicle. He suffered minor injuries.
Ambulance staff assessed and treated the patient at the scene before he was taken to QEQM hospital for further medical treatment. He was then arrested and remains in custody.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a report of a single vehicle collision at 7.15pm on Wednesday 14 May.
“Officers attended the scene in La Belle Alliance Square, Ramsgate, with colleagues from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) and the Kent Fire and Rescue Service, who assisted in releasing a man from the vehicle.
“He sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The 51-year-old from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and currently remains in custody.
“Following recovery of the vehicle, the scene was clear by around 9.40pm.”

Good to see the coppers doing their job. Lets hope a ban is placed upon said driver.

Drink/drug drivers are the lowest. They don’t care about anyone, so why should I care about them!

I used to say I hope they crash & are killed, but in more recent years I hope they crash & end up as a paraplegic/tetraplegic in pain for the rest of their lives-like many the people they plough into & don’t kill end up.
As long as they don’t hit any innocent people-just find a tree, or a nice concrete wall.
Maybe because the guy could give a fig about any other road user or pedestrians safety. The type that we see here all the time hitting somebody & then doing a runner because they are loaded up on booze &/or drugs.
Drink/drug driving ,should be a life time ban .A driving licence is a privilege to hold and idiots should have them taken away.I would also include excessive speeding and causing death of injuries due to bad driving to have life time bans
