The 20-man Ramsgate Walking Football 60 and Overs squad have recently returned from another trip to Browns Sporting resort, near Vilamoura in Portugal.
Fourteen teams took part in the tournament and both Ramsgate teams did exceptionally well to qualify from their groups and then win their Quarter Final ties.
The Semi Finals however proved a bridge too far as both teams were beaten by powerful expat outfits.
In the third place match the Ramsgate Yellows beat the Blues on penalties to secure the trophy.
The squad’s Rob Pugh said: “Overall, once again, the club is proud of how well the whole squad performed. Out of the eight British teams we finished in the highest positions, returned home with the third-place trophy, while Captain of the Yellows Phil Moody, won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament award for his four goals and overall play.
“As always the social side was excellent with a game of Foot Golf enjoyed for the first time along with the usual beer, food and banter.
“Thanks go especially to Simon Addley and Rob Cheshire for the great effort they put in to organise the whole trip. The club plays Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10am to noon at Ramsgate FC’s Southwood home.
