Residents thank ‘unsung hero’ Charlie Euden for helping Thanet people in need

A group of Thanet residents have joined together to shout the praises of an ‘unsung hero’ from Broadstairs.

They want to highlight the voluntary work done by mum-of-two Charlie Euden who has helped thousands of isle families over the years with everything from advice to sorting out food hampers, clothing and even furniture for people in need.

The 50-year-old, who is a carer for her 19-year-old daughter Angel who is autistic with ADHD, also organises Christmas parties where children can meet Santa and families receive presents and family trips to destinations such as Chessington.

Ramsgate mum Chardonnay Nicholson, speaking on behalf of the group of residents, said: “We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to Charlie for her incredible dedication to helping families in need.

“This year, (and every year!) Charlie went above and beyond to ensure that those struggling in our community always have access to basic necessities from food to furniture! And it doesn’t stop there!

“She’s worked hard to provide funded trips to theme parks for the less fortunate, as well as this year ensuring we all had a lovely Christmas dinner and gifts to bring some holiday cheer.

“Thanks to Charlie’s generosity and tireless efforts, countless families are able to enjoy a warm, festive meal on Christmas Day, something many thought would be out of reach with the tough times we are all going through.

“Charlie’s kindness extends beyond just providing food, she works tirelessly to ensure that struggling families received care packages, clothing and other essentials, providing a sense of security and comfort when it is needed most.

“Charlie’s selflessness and compassion embody the true spirit of the holiday season. Her actions have brought light on our circumstances, showing us that we are not alone. Her kindness has touched us truly, and she makes a distinct difference in the community.

“Her heart and actions have brought warmth to all of us, and her efforts do not go unnoticed. Thank you for being a shining light in our community.”

Horse-riding enthusiast Charlie, who is also mum to 28-year-old Freddie, carries out her community work on a completely voluntary basis.

Angel, who runs business Make Up by Angel, said: “My mum is very outgoing and loves people and socialising. She talks to everyone and always makes an effort with everyone she meets.

“She’s very bubbly and funny, she works very hard and never gives up if she has an idea. She’ll make it happen no matter what.

“She does everything she can to help others. She hasn’t got much herself but she’d give her last £10 if she knew someone wasn’t going to have dinner that night.”

How Charlie has helped

“She’s helped me and my family so much she went out of her way and went to Asda and bought my daughter premature clothes when I didn’t have enough for her (didn’t realise my baby was going to be that small) . She brought them round to my house for me and had a cuddle with my bubba but she didn’t stop there, she bought something for me and some sweets for my other children. I can never thank her enough.”

“She has helped me so much since I’ve met her and she gave me a lot of support last year when I lost my dad. She messages every so often just to see if me and my girls are ok and she always tries to help everyone she can and even done Christmas parties for us all for free “

“She gave my daughter a chance of going to a Christmas party two years running and made sure we had Christmas dinner as well. This year she managed to get a Christmas dinner parcel for my family.”

“She helped me when I came out of temporary housing to our forever home, I had help furnishing the house, getting appliances and now with a family Christmas dinner for myself and three young children. I’ll be forever grateful to Charlie for bending over backwards for people she doesn’t know personally. It just shows what a kind hearted human being she truly is.”

“She’s helped me with food parcels, Christmas dinner and help with gifts. If it wasn’t for her last year I would not of managed to give my kids Christmas.”
