Caring children at St Nicholas at Wade CE Primary made and displayed wreaths as a mark of Remembrance respect.
At a special assembly on November 11 – Armistice Day – pupils learned about the significance of the Cenotaph war memorial and the service that takes place there.
Each class presented their own wreath as a heartfelt mark of remembrance and respect with every child making their own poppy to adorn the floral tributes.
The gathering also listened to the Last Post before observing two minutes of silence to reflect on the sacrifices made by many.
Head Teacher Taralee Kennedy said pupils and staff proudly observed the significance of the solemn and reflective anniversary.
Children in service groups including Sea Scouts, Scouts, Brownies, Cubs, and Rainbows proudly wore their uniforms in to school.
Mrs Kennedy added: “It was lovely to see the children dressed in their service uniforms, adding to the solemnity of the occasion.
“Throughout the week leading up to Remembrance Day, our head pupils and prefects have been diligently selling poppies, helping to raise awareness and funds for the Royal British Legion.
“Recognising this day is important to us at St Nicholas, as it not only honours those who fought for our freedom but respects those who are still engaged in active service. It also reminds us how fortunate we are to live in a time of peace.”
