An inter-faith peace vigil will be held in Ramsgate tomorrow (September 19) in association with International Day of Peace.
Representatives from faith groups will gather in the town centre at noon. Attendees will include Ramsgate councillor Raushan Ara, Captain Carl Whitewood from the Salvation Army and Rabbi Cliff Cohen, of Thanet & District Reform Synagogue,
Cllr Ara said: “This is an interfaith event with the goal of bringing our community together in peace. If you wish to share a reading or poem of peace we welcome any participation.
“We welcome banners and signs but ask that people respect the aim of the vigil. Our opinions will differ on the legitimacy of each conflict (but) on this day we want to symbolise what unites us. Peace is the only long-term solution.”
The International Day of Peace is officially on September 21 each year and was established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution.

Will there be complimentary refreshments and extra wc’s ? or is it a byo event ?
Wishing them a lovely day, weather looks warmish but gusty winds forecast. TDC with RTC could provide a permanent location for speakers of all. like london’s hyde park speakers corner.
Hopefully rtc will illuminate the street lights, the large light bulbs-very nice.
Will there be Pork Burgers served at the Burger van?
