A 38-year-old man is in custody following a disturbance on Ramsgate seafront today (May 31).
Police and paramedics were called to Harbour Parade at 11.06am where a man had suffered minor injuries.
Officers arrested a 38-year-old on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article. He remains in custody.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 11:06am on Friday 31 May to reports of a disturbance at a restaurant on Harbour Parade, Ramsgate.
“Officers attended the scene, where a man was reported to have sustained minor injuries.
“A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article. He remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service added: “SECAmb were called shortly before 11:15am this morning to reports of a person in need of medical attention at the Harbour Parade in Ramsgate. Crews arrived and assessed one person on scene.”

In my personal experience it is perfectly safe.
Just about every day I make at least 1, sometimes 2, trips into town to shop.
I have never encountered any violence. I have never seen any violence.
And the patrons of The Village Grill, Star Nergis, Riley and do on are quite content to sit at the pavement tables and enjoy their meals.

That area is observed by many tdc cctv, so it should be solved quickly before repeat events but maybe cctv watchers are wfh or just not there. Who pays for tdc cctv ?.
Last week someone decided to leave washing machine in full view of tdc cctv adjacent to that neverspoons. Will someone be traced and asked to pay for its correct disposal ?
Oh and why does tdc and maybe other interested parties have cctv viewing the near by knife amnesty (and other small weapons) disposal bin ?

Ramsgate town is probably quite safe during daylight, what about the evening times?
My personal experience is that on the whole, Ramsgate is reasonably safe at any “normal” time. I would probably avoid Harbour St at 03:00 on a Sunday morning.
You never go anywhere else, so have nowhere else to compare it with – unlike myself, who travels to many other countries (7 so far this year alone). Trust me, Ramsgate isn’t all that great.
My friend was stopped by two men near Birchington Station today. They hurled abuse at her and pushed her into a bush. She uses a cane to walk. She’s too shaken up to go the police.
Well, phone the police on her behalf then. Why let the culprits get away with it?
