Grafting is a gardening method that joins two separate plants together so they grow as one. The main parts involved are the scion (the upper shoot or branch with desired flowers) and the rootstock (the lower rooted base)
In this exhibition a figure in blue sleeps on a bed of Hollyhocks, feeling the red hot sun. Dreaming. Another figure (Cool Guy) sits on a ledge in leisure. Calm; taking it all in – the glowing pink sunrises, the white chalk. Portraits appear, scenes from life and memories, nods to Derek Jarman.

Forest Journalling Workshop

Finnish author Lotte Saahko’s debut novel in English Lumi and the Wolf was published on September 24th.
This moving and fast-paced book tells the tale of an autistic girl who befriends and saves an endangered wolf. The protagonist, Lumi, keeps a ‘forest diary’ in the novel, a creative and meditative habit of Saahko’s, which she explores in her celebrated journalling workshops.

Nick Evans book signing and book launch
Nostalgia book author Nick Evans will be signing copies of his books for customers at Westgate Galleria on Saturday 26 September between 11am and 1pm.
During the past six years Nick has written no fewer than 12 books about Thanet’s illustrious past. Subjects have included Westgate, Broadstairs, Cliftonville, Ramsgate, the villages and most recently the isle’s transport.

Cliftonville Farmers’ Market was established in 2001 by the Cliftonville Residents Association and is run entirely by volunteers.
There are now over 50 stalls, with the most fantastic selection of food providers that include a fruit farmer and a vegetable farmer. All meat is free range, as are the eggs, honey is raw, and the mushrooms are grown by the producer.
There are also 5 vegan stalls and another (gluten-free) bakery stall.
They even have ice cream for dogs!

Solo exhibition by Scottish‑Iraqi artist Emii Alrai
Lures unfolds as a sculptural landscape shaped by excavation, myth and inherited memory. Alrai transforms the gallery into a shifting terrain, where fragments appear caught between ruin and reconstruction.
Across the gallery, clay, steel and carved polystyrene form a landscape of partial monuments, reliquaries and speculative artefacts. Sculptures resembling unearthed vessels, carved landscapes and provisional structures operate as decoys, suggesting authenticity while revealing their constructed nature.

This stunning, award winning film by Tony Gatlif, who recently passed away, charts the sweep of gypsy music across many nations over the last 1,000 years… India, Syria, Turkey, Romania, Poland, and into Gypsy Jazz in France and Flamenco in Spain.
Each nation in the 90 minute film hosts an improvised musical performance… every person and every family there on the day can sit and watch… or dance along to!
