Man due in court following Ramsgate bookies robbery

Armed police carried out enquiries in Margate and Ramsgate Photo Thanet from my perspective

A 29-year-old man is to appear in court following an investigation by Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate into a robbery in Ramsgate.

Police were called to Coral’s bookies in Newington Road, just before 2pm on Wednesday (February 19) where it was reported cash had been stolen.

Officers and an armed response team attended Marine Terrace in Margate where they arrested a man on the same day.

Today (February 21) the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges of robbery and possession of a firearm – a handgun- with intent to commit robbery against Luke Twyman, of Lancaster Close, Ramsgate.

Mr Twyman remains in custody and is due to appear via virtual link at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.

As part of ongoing enquiries, officers including armed patrols, carried out a pre-planned warrant at a property in the Newington Road area of Ramsgate last night. No arrests were made.

    • Cliftonville is still a trashfire, it’s roughly got the same amount of criminals as Ramsgate.

      The only places in Thanet I feel safe going to nowadays are Broadstairs and the Quex villages.
