The new ride

The winning name for one of the new rides coming to Dreamland has been revealed.

More than 2,900 entries were made in the competition the name the new thrill ride, which is a modern version of the Enterprise.

Judges selected ‘Dreamcatcher’ as the winning suggestion, deeming it to perfectly sum up the experience riders will enjoy.

The Dreamcatcher is an open-air thrill experience that transports riders 60 feet through the air at 25 miles per hour. Seating 24 people, two per gondola, the ride will treat visitors to an awe-inspiring experience that transforms from the horizontal to the nearly vertical.

‘Dreamcatcher’, or a derivative of the name, was suggested by 111 members of the public, with the lucky winner, Rebecca Wood, selected at random from this list.

Rebecca wins the chance to be one of the first to experience the ride, along with up to nine friends on its opening weekend of Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22. The other 110 people who suggested ‘Dreamcatcher’ will be offered two unlimited ride wristbands for the Saturday.
