All-female hip hop crew hit POW! Thanet festival with series of performances

Following the success of  b.By the Sea at the Roundabout Theatre in September 2016, all-female hip hop crew b.Supreme are back in Thanet.

They are currently running an 8 week long all female hip hop training project with young dancers from Hartsdown Academy, Ursuline College and St George’s C of E Foundation school.

This will culminate in three days of hip hop performances at Turner Contemporary, Theatre Royal Margate and Dreamland as part of POW! Thanet International Women’s Week.

When and where

8 March – Turner Contemporary

 4pm – Dare2Dance – free event

Young people from Hartsdown Academy, St Georges C of E and Ursuline College will perform inspiring short choreographic pieces they have been working on with b.supreme since January 2017. The pieces place focus on female empowerment and supporting one another.

 7pm-8.30pm – b.By the sea: Battle Supreme – free event

b.Supreme will take over the Clore Gallery at  Turner for an evening of awe-inspiring  ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ dance battles. Dance duo’s consisting of one B-boy and one B-girl will take to the stage to battle it out against one another bringing the usual b.Supreme fun and explosive excitement!

10 March – Theatre Royal Margate

7.30pm –  Dancing with ‘Myself’ and Dare2Dance Finale

Ticketed event:  £10, £7 concessions and £5 schools


Myself UK is a power packed all-female hip hop dance company, challenging the male-dominated gender stereotyped scene.

This super strong crew of 15 female dancers draw their experience from their recent performances in New York’s  ‘ladies of Hip Hop’, Sky One’s ‘Got to Dance’, Breakin’ Convention and b.Supreme.

This will be an evening of cutting edge new Hip Hop choreography and female empowerment as they share the stage with b.By the Sea students from the Thanet secondary schools in the POW! Thanet choreography championships 2017.

11 March – Dreamland Margate

6pm –   b.Supreme presents b.Empowered

The winners of the POW! Thanet choreography championship will kick of the show joined by MYSELF UK dance company . This will another opportunity for local dancers and breakers to come together in an open to anyone ‘People’s Battle’.

DJ Dbo and MC Sun Sun will open the floor to dancers aged 6+ who want to show what they can do.
