A man accused of murder in Cliftonville has appeared in court

A 24-year-old man has appeared via virtual court accused of murdering a man in Cliftonville

Aurimas Vilius, 24, of Cornwall Gardens has been charged with the murder of 38-year-old Edvardas Barscevicius, who was also living in Margate, some time between June 30 and July 4.

He is also charged with assault of a second man. Police believe the incidents are connected.

The charges follow the discovery of Mr Barscevicius’ body in Ethelbert Terrace on Monday (3 July).

It is believed that both victims and the suspect are known to one another and enquiries into the death remain ongoing.

A 35-year-old man that was also arrested in connection with the incident has been released pending further enquiries.

A third man, aged 54, was released without charge

Aurimas Vilius will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, July 10.
