Police and a bomb disposal team have attended a premises in Garlinge after a suspected ordnance was uncovered.
Officers and the MoD team were called to Fulham Avenue at 10am today (August 27).
A team from Shorncliffe EOD Troop, 11 EOD&S Regt RLC responded to the call-out. The item was assessed as a 120mm High Explosive Squash Head (HESH), Inert and was removed from the scene to prevent future taskings.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to Fulham Avenue, Margate, following the discovery of suspected ordnance shortly after 10am on Tuesday 27 August.
“Officers attended along with a Ministry of Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal team and the item was found to pose no risk to public safety.”
An Army spokesperson said: “We can confirm an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called out to Fulham Avenue, Margate, at the request of Kent Police.”
