A Margate business is celebrating after scooping top place in the regional South East Business Awards 2022 held in Guildford.
SKIN Beauty and Aesthetics in Margate High Street took the top place in the hair and beauty salon and will now go forward to compete in the national Grand Final in Birmingham this month.
Owner and experienced therapist Jo Fulton Tolley has been in Margate for more than a decade after ditching corporate life to concentrate on building her own business.
She said: “We were anonymously nominated by a member of public then compared to other businesses in our category for the South East.
“We were also mystery shopped in person, on phone, on our socials by the England Business Awards and voted for to become finalist.
“We travelled up to Guildford to attend the South East finals having no idea if we would even place against the others in our class across the country, so going on to win our category outright was a total shock.
“As regional winners we now get put through to England finals which is this Sunday in Birmingham
“We are so super thrilled and beside ourselves with excitement, after three incredibly tough years with Covid and the cost of living crisis we have continued to fight and deliver our vision of an all inclusive friendly and professional environment.
“We have little extras like the client garden, bar and activity table away from mirrors and full beauty department with luxury pedicure spa, aspiring to be a one stop shop for every one including hair, beauty, barbering and aesthetics, with constant professional training and evolving the business we are proud to be representing Margate and Kent, we are not just some sleepy seaside town… we are award winning!”
