Three crews from Kent Fire & Rescue Service have attended a fire in Westgate.
Crews were called to the Carlton Cinema at 1.16pm today (August 7).
Smoke was cleared from the property and there are no reported injuries. The fire started in aneighbouring property.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service has been called to reports of a commercial building fire on Mildreds Road, Westgate on Sea.
“Three fire engines attended. Crews wearing breathing apparatus have extinguished the fire and are clearing smoke from the property.
“There are currently no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is not yet known.”
The cinema has posted to social media to let customers know it will be closed for the remainder of the day but two of the screens reopen tomorrow (August 8).
On a post to social media it says: “The bad news is we have been affected by a fire that started on a neighbouring property. We unfortunately have some water and smoke damage in our beautiful screen 1.
Was the cinema showing “Towering Inferno” at the time ?
