Pupils at Monkton Primary School stepped back in time as they celebrated Comic Relief with a colourful 80s and 90s dress-up day. Children arrived at school dressed in eye-catching shell suits, bright leg warmers, and even sporting impressive mullet hairstyles.
Some pupils came dressed as famous film legends from the era, including Marty McFly and the Ghostbusters, bringing plenty of nostalgia and laughter to the school halls. The school was filled with neon colours, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere throughout the day.
The fun didn’t stop there. The day ended with a fundraising disco, where part of the entry fee went towards Comic Relief. Children and staff danced and boogied along to classic 80s and 90s hits, as well as songs from more modern singers.
Headteacher Mr Marston, who was also the DJ at the disco, praised the effort that went into the day, saying: “It was fantastic to see so much creativity and enthusiasm from our pupils and staff. Not only did everyone have a brilliant time, but we also raised money for a very important cause. We are incredibly proud of how our school community came together.”
