Wellesley Haddon Dene independent school in Broadstairs is celebrating significant growth since headmaster Duncan Andrews took up his post in April.
In just seven months, the school has achieved 20% pupil growth, with Upper Years 4–6 now full, Reception 2026 almost full, and a significant increase in admissions enquiries.
Demand continues to rise as the school prepares to open a new Nursery that will soon be welcoming children from 9 months old who can take a continuous educational journey through to age 11.
With demand at record levels, the school is now aiming to move to double-form entry.
Mr Andrews said: “It has been a remarkable first year. Our growth shows that families want more than just excellent academics — they want stability, trust, and community. Wellesley Haddon Dene provides all of that.
“We’re solid, here to stay and growing — and we’re delighted to be expanding from Reception to meet demand. Additionally, our 11+ results have continued to improve, reflecting the commitment and ambition of both our pupils and staff.”

The school is set within 24 acres of parkland and has a Forest School, Beach School, orchard, apiary, cricket pitches, indoor swimming pool, and squash courts.
The school has also earned a prestigious Eco Award, recognising its leadership in sustainability education. Through hands-on initiatives such as recycling drives, biodiversity projects, and eco-brick crafting, pupils learn first-hand how to care for their planet while developing teamwork, curiosity, and compassion.
