Hot on the heels of a successful 50th anniversary party last month, Bromstone Primary School has continued its celebrations with a special ceremony to mark this historic milestone.
Pupils and staff gathered in the school grounds to plant a commemorative tree — a lasting symbol of Bromstone’s growth and legacy over the past five decades.
As part of the event, a carefully prepared time capsule was buried alongside the tree. Every year group contributed something meaningful to the capsule, from football cards to science work.
A letter was also included, explaining what each item is and why it was chosen, so that when the capsule is opened in 2050 future pupils and staff will have a glimpse of what school life was like in 2025.
The capsule was lowered into the ground by Head Boy Max Wing and Head Girl Mia Barton, who led the ceremony in front of proud members of the school community.
Heads of School Toni Moon and Emma Ribbans said:“We’re so proud to be celebrating 50 years of Bromstone. This school has been at the heart of the local community for generations, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed the month-long celebrations.
“Planting the tree and burying the time capsule is a special way to remember the past while looking ahead to the future. We hope that in another 50 years, Bromstone will still be going from strength to strength.”
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Bromstone will also be hosting a special Alumni Tour for any former pupils or staff who would like to revisit the school. The tour will take place on Thursday 30th October at 3:45pm. To reserve a place, please email [email protected]
