A new Costa Coffee café has opened inside the Asda Broadstairs superstore.
The brand replaces Asda’s former own brand café which was run by the Compass group.
Tom Falk, Head of Property at Costa Coffee, said: “We’re thrilled to continue our collaboration with Asda and bring our much-loved Costa Coffee experience to shoppers in Broadstairs. This store is all about convenience and comfort – offering customers the chance to enjoy their favourite coffee in a friendly and familiar setting.”
Ian McEvans, Vice President of Commercial Food at Asda, said: “Our cafés are an important part of the shopping experience for many of our customers, so we’re excited to be working with an established and popular brand like Costa Coffee.
“While many of our competitors are closing their cafés, we remain committed to offering a café option for our customers and are confident that Costa Coffee will deliver an excellent experience for customers who enjoy a quick brew or bite to eat while shopping in our Broadstairs store.”
They obviously won’t be doing kids food for a £1 and pensioners food for a £1 like Asda used to.i’ll boycott this Costas… that now makes 4 in Broadstairs. Ridiculous!!!

We had a Costa Coffee in Birchington a few years back: it closed within months, due to people using local independent cafes and restaurants instead! : )
As if we dont have enough.
Costas is owned by the coca cola company who are trying to off load the Costa coffee chain, this is due to competion, inflation, high rents and thin margins on making any money.
They have closed around 20-30 shops this year.so why in Thanet are we subjected to another one! I suggest that we vote with our feet and boycott their shops.
