The founder of founder of the award-winning restaurant and wine bar Pomus in Margate has announced he will launch little sister site ‘Pom on The Pier’ on the Harbour Arm on Friday 18th April.
Ryan Jacovides, who opened the main restaurant at The Centre last summer, says the new ‘kiosk’ venture will launch just in time for the long Easter weekend.
Based next door to Margate foodie favourite Sargasso, ‘Pom on The Pier’ will open from midday to sunset, Friday to Sunday, with longer opening hours planned over the warmer summer months.
Offering up to 30 seats on the outside terrace, POM will provide the perfect vantage spot to enjoy good wine and food with friends, and watch the Margate sunset- blankets will be provided when it gets chilly.
Decked out in Pomus green like its sibling site, POM will be wine-focused, serving a concise on-tap list curated by Ryan, alongside a collection of classic summer cocktails such as the house signature ‘POM rum punch’, and local craft beer.
Food comes courtesy of Pomus’ head chef Aaron Costen, who has developed a menu of bar snacks for guests to enjoy alongside the wine, beer and cocktails. Snacks include ‘corn ribs, agave yoghurt & fermented chilli’, ‘Fritto misto with squid aioli’ and Pomus’ best-seller ‘Chicken karaage, maple syrup & togarashi’.
Soft serve ice-cream sundae with a host of creative and colourful toppings closes the menu on a sweet note.
The kiosk restaurant and wine bar caters for walk-ins only.

A couple of years ago, we passed a restaurant on the Harbour Arm, and vaguely interested in eating in there, we asked if we could look at the menu – and were told that they had no printed menus, but we could see it online! Hope this place is better.
300 strikes , theres no need to be so cunning , thanet is a depressed area . so many people rock up around here with over priced food and drinks , and think they can mug the locals , they do not last long – fact . just wait and see , sarcastic people like you dont encourage people either , this is not the south of france .
