Monday (February 3) was an unforgettable day for the Year 4 children from St Laurence CE Junior Academy as they took part in the spectacular Young Voices concert at the O2 Arena in London.
Performing in a choir of 8,000 other children, they sang their hearts out and embraced the magic of the event.
Excited children described it as ‘the best day ever,’ beaming with joy after their time on stage. The atmosphere was electric and the sheer scale of the event made it a truly special occasion. Singing alongside thousands of other children, they had the chance to showcase their dedication and enthusiasm in a professional concert setting, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Months of preparation paid off as they performed a variety of songs from well-loved classics to contemporary hits.
The school thanked Mr Bottle, the music coordinator, for organising the trip, and Mr Aslett, who worked tirelessly to teach and practise all the songs with the children.
Thanks also went to Ms Cutler, a volunteer governor, along with Ms Graham, Mrs Hawkes and Mrs Buckland, for generously giving up their time to support the trip.
Special appreciation was expressed to the parents who cheered from the audience, providing wonderful support.
Young Voices is an opportunity for children to experience the joy of performing on a grand stage.
As the concert came to a close, the excitement continued on the journey home, with children reliving the magic of the evening through chatter and song. Many are already asking when they can do it all over again!
