Garlinge Primary School and Nursery has been given a generous donation of £1,400 worth of books from The Rotary Club of Margate, which was fulfilled by Adam Taylor, the owner of The Classroom.
Pat Buckley, from the Rotary Club’s Youth Service department, contacted the school regarding the possible donation which was gratefully received by the English Leads Natasha Subramaniam and Miss Beaumont.
Pat Buckley and Adam Taylor along with the president of the Rotary Club presented the donation to Miss Subramaniam and some Year 5 and 6 children during a special assembly on Monday 9th December.
Miss Subramaniam said: “The kindness and generosity of the volunteers at Margate Rotary Club has blown us all away. They are fantastic role models for the children and show how we can work together as a community to help others.
“I am so pleased they were able to come to an assembly to help celebrate their fantastic donation. I know the pupils of the school will be charmed by the large range of books on offer. A huge thank you to Adam from The Classroom too, for sourcing such a great selection of books!”
Bella, a year 6 pupil added: “I am very happy and excited about the choice of new books that we now have. I can’t wait to choose one to read!
The donation will enable Garlinge Primary School to expand its collection of books and include new titles that cater to a variety of interests and reading levels.
Head of school Anna Northrop said: “It was lovely to meet the members of the Margate Rotary Club and we thank them for their generosity. Their kindness towards the children of Garlinge Primary School and Nursery will have a huge impact on their enjoyment of reading.”
The Rotary Club of Margate continues to be a strong advocate for local education, working with community members and businesses to ensure children have the resources they need to succeed.
