Local ceramicist, Izzy McFarlane, is holding her first pop-up shop in Broadstairs.
Completely self-taught, Izzy’s ceramics are heavily influenced by her background in design and have been stocked in Turner Contemporary, Paper Stories Craft Café in Gypsy Hill, and featured in Delicious Magazine, amongst other places.
The affordable handmade mugs, bowls, jugs and prints make perfect unique Christmas presents.

A solo exhibition titled Souvenir by Brighton based artist Amy Dury. The show explores themes of gender, family and British society in Dury’s trademark colour-soaked paintings.
Drawing inspiration from vintage photography and home movies, Dury brings a uniqueblend of nostalgia and modernity to the canvas. The exhibition features a vivid palette, and mix of expressive representation alongside detailed passages which dominate the compositions. “The show is intertwined with my memories of holidays at Margate as a child,” Dury says. “Looking at vintage photographs, movies, and using AI helps me make sense of these ideas which include donkeys, mothers and nostalgia.”
Slow Mending with Yvonne Fuchs

A mindful and contemplative workshop, learning how to mend and give life to your clothing at the Windmill Community Gardens
Yvonne will introduce some mindful ways of well being whilst stitching, alongside the techniques and style of this movement in textiles. Come and learn about the history of slow stitch, its origin in Japanese Boro and Bangladeshi Kantha. Boro grew from necessity in mediaeval Japan, these methods began as working class, accessible, practical techniques, and have evolved over the centuries.
Beginners are most welcome as well as those with experience of making textiles at any level.
Dress-in warm layers. Bring a garment you want to mend … preferably knitted .

Art Exhibition by Northdown Primary School
16th November – 17th November, 11am to 4pm,The Margate School
A two-day exhibition at the Margate School celebrating 20 years of Thanet Coastal Volunteers working with the Thanet Coast Project to educate others and to monitor sea life
The artwork in the main exhibition area has been produced by the Northdown Primary School Children for their first public exhibition.
Work includes a life size seal pup, a collaborative jellyfish and a variety of artwork to be framed using discarded material.
The window display is the work of a group of children from the Canterbury Academy (in years 7 and 8) with a collection of sculptures again with the Thanet Coast theme.
The exhibition also taps into the Margate art scene and local artists Ellie Tate and Louise Frances Smith will add information about their journeys into art.

The Thanet Chamber Choir’s Autumn Concert “The Bravest Man”
Birchington All Saints Church on Saturday 16th November at 7pm.
A dramatic cantata about the famous Cromer fisherman, Henry Blogg. For 53 years he was a member of the Cromer lifeboat crew; for 38 of those he was cox’n. He won 3 gold and 4 silver medals, having been involved in the saving of 873 lives.
The cantata tells of the events of the 9th January 1917, when Henry Blogg and his crew launched their rowing lifeboat Luisa Heartwell, twice, over 14 hours, to save the crews of the Pyrin and the Fernebo.
It is a celebration not only of the deeds of Henry Blogg, but of lifeboat men and women around the British Isles who have been saving lives at sea for 200 years.
The concert also features music by Herbert Howells, Benjamin Britten and others. Composer, Douglas Coombes and librettist Paul Rosier will be attending, this second ever public performance.
