Westgate-on-Sea’s independent shops and traders will be extending their opening hours until 8pm tonight (14th November), to give their customers an opportunity to Shop Local this Christmas.
Traders opening late include Ace Attire, Borgyn and Bakes, Budget Bazaar, Chalk, Corkscrew, Crumb and Deli, Edwards, Mimi and Pier, Morris’ General Stores, and Westgate Galleria, which is the town’s unique shared shop space that showcases handmade products made by over 50 local artists and makers. The Galleria is also celebrating its five year anniversary trading on Station Road this week.
Some traders will be serving complimentary drinks and mince pies for their customers, alongside the usual array of fare that’s available from the town’s bars and restaurants. Westgate’s historical shop canopies have been lit up for Christmas and many of the shop fronts are showcasing festive lighted window displays, helping to make the town a beautiful, and safe, place to visit after dark.
Shopping Local at Christmas across Thanet as an alternative to online will help local high streets to thrive not just now but into next year too.
Westgate-on-Sea has accessible parking and is on Thanet’s bus and train routes.
