On November 11 the whole school community of Holy Trinity and St John’s CEP School, Margate joined together to remember those that have been affected by conflicts around the world – both past and present.
More than 400 children and 80 staff joined together with members of St John’s Church community, listening to remembrance poems that had been written by year 6 pupils. There was then stood a two minute silence before every child and member of staff placed a cross at the foot of the flagpoles. Each cross had been individually decorated and had the names of those they want to remember written on them.
The crosses will remain as a Remembrance installation for this week and parents and visitors are also invited to add their own crosses of remembrance.
Head teacher Rob Garratt said: “The service was a very special moment, having our whole school community together, with our very youngest and oldest pupils standing together showing their respect for the fallen and their families.”
