A Thanet dog rescue charity is to open its first shop this month.
Angels 4 Dogs Rescue began in 2011 and is run by Yasmine Moss and fellow volunteer animal lovers. It does not have external funding so relies on donations and charity events.
The team try and save and rehome as many dogs as humanly possible.
They do not have their own kennels and so kennel fees mount up daily and they also provide foster homes with food and medical care for the rescue dogs.
Many dogs arrive requiring operations and higher levels of medical attention so raising funds is a necessity.
Angels 4 Dogs will open the doors of the new shop at 38 Station Road, Birchington, on November 30 from 10am to 3pm.
Yasmine said: “It’ll be our first ever charity shop. All donations will go entirely towards the dogs. “We have 47 at the moment and have had some huge vets bills- over £10k last month plus £3258 in kennel bills now due. The funds and donated items are hugely needed.
“The shop used to be the old Hardman’s solicitors and has had a huge amount of work done on it.
“The landlady did all the damp work on it and lots of people locally have volunteered their time and services too to get it ready.”

Excellent news. Station Road in Birchington only has 6 other charity shops at present.
Well done Yasmin and all your supporters in getting this fund raising venture up and running. When times are financially challenging for many then Charity shops offer a cheaper retail alternative and with the money raised to support your work with the dogs then a “Win Win as far as I can see xx
Breeders neither know nor care where animals end up. They are the reason that rescues exist. Well done Yasmin. I hope the locals give you all the support that you deserve.

I would suggest closing all animal charities down until child poverty has been addressed.

As a fellow Christian and Birchingtonian (and coincidentally a Peter, and also perfect in every way), I have to agree with Mr Checkers. It will be awful to have to walk past another blimmin’ animal charity shop set up by a kindly young lady to help some of God’s suffering creatures, when she could have spent her time more gainfully in, say, researching the complete recording sessions of Cliff Richard and the Shadows, 1958-68. Can’t we have a shop we really need, like a nail bar or gent’s hairdresser? “Bubble” tearooms are very popular in Canterbury, apparently, amongst the young ones. Perhaps we’re a little bit too elderly here in Birchington, so how about a Green Tea Room, with a 50s rock’n’roll theme? I’d paint the door green, and customers would have to guess what’s behind it.
