St Lawrence College secures spot in UK Top 200 sporting schools list

Sporting recognition for St Lawrence College

St Lawrence College is celebrating its triumphant return to the prestigious School Sports Magazine Top 200 Sports Schools in the UK. The publication is widely recognised as the pinnacle of school sports recognition.

Since 2016, St Lawrence College has been striving to regain its Top 200 status, intensifying efforts since January 2023. The focus involved participation in nationally recognised competitions, where the school’s athletes not only competed but excelled, earning valuable points.

The qualification process is rigorous, emphasising success across various sports. Securing the rank of 158 means that St Lawrence College now stands among the top 5% of the country’s sporting schools.

Beyond traditional major sports such as cricket, hockey, rugby, and netball, the school has been expanding its footprint into a variety of other activities, including cross country and badminton.

St Lawrence College Sport Director Seth Simmons (pictured above, centre) says the strategic development plan includes further expansion into sports such as water polo, golf, athletics, basketball, and swimming, all of which have already been introduced at the school.

A school spokesperson said: “St Lawrence College is very proud of our Sport Department whose passion and commitment have been instrumental in achieving this milestone. Our goal is to retain our place and, with the same passion and determination, we are confident that St Lawrence College will continue to ascend in the ranks of school sports excellence.”
