Teenager ‘bailed pending further enquiries’ following bomb disposal team call out to Garlinge

An Army bomb disposal unit was called in

A teenage boy arrested after an Army bomb disposal unit was called in to deal with “suspicious items” in Garlinge on Saturday (June 17) has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Kent Police officers were called to Craven Close area of Margate following the discovery of the items and explosives experts from the British Army were also in attendance.

An MoD spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an Army EOD team from Shorncliffe Troop, 621 EOD Sqn, 11 EOD&S Regt, attended Craven Court, Garlinge, at the request of Kent Police.

“The team identified various items that were left with the police for further investigation.”

A Kent Police spokesperson added: “The boy who was arrested in relation to the Craven Close incident has been bailed pending further enquiries.”
