A fundraising page and football match have been organised following the sad death of Ramsgate man Stephen Shrimpton.

Stephen, known as Shrimpo to his friends, passed away on April 24, aged just 26.

Friend Reece Wiggins has set up the Gofundme and the memorial match with funds to go to Stephen’s family.

The match will take place at Ramsgate’s WW Martin stadium at Southwood on June 10. Kick off at 3pm.

Stephen was a huge Liverpool FC fan and also enjoyed playing football until a worsening of his epilepsy meant he could no longer continue. He did, however, attend matches to see Reece and his teams play on Sundays.

Reece said: “He used to come and watch me every Sunday for the last 2/3 years of me getting back into football, he was there no matter what. He came and watched my first team Palm Bay FC and now Furys FC.”

The Furys FC team members will be going to Jackey Bakers field this Sunday morning to lay flowers where Stephen used to stand to watch the games.

Reece and his team mates will be there from 9:30am until 10:45am to meet and lay flowers with everyone that wants to come and join them.

Twyman and Holmes will conduct Stephen’s funeral on Thursday 18th May, 10.45am at Thanet Crematorium.

The fundraiser, which exceeded its original £500 target in just 35 minutes, is to help Stephen’s family with funeral costs.
