Ramsgate Music Hall hosts Scott Matthews gig at St George’s Church

Singer-songwriter Scott Matthews

Ramsgate Music Hall will host their first event at St George’s Church in May.

The music hall is bringing singer-songwriter Scott Matthews to the Ramsgate church on May 26.

Following Scott’s critically acclaimed album, New Skin – lauded by Robert Plant, Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Bella Union’s Simon Raymonde as his most courageous move yet – comes the sequel to its story, and the Ivor Novello award-winner is not afraid to evolve once more.

Scott’s new album, Restless Lullabies, emerges with a stark boldness and stripped of electronics.

The singer, from Wolverhampton, released his first album Passing Stranger in 2006

His first single “Elusive” received much airplay from BBC Radio DJs and in May 2007, he won the Ivor Novello Award for it as Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

Matthews has toured the UK extensively in support of his album and appeared in support of the Foo Fighters for their acoustic Skin and Bones concerts.

He has since released three more albums.

It is hoped the gig will be the first of many that Ramsgate Music Hall hosts at Dt George;s Church.

Doors open at 7,30pm. Tickets cost £18 plus booking fee. Book here
