Crew members at Margate Fire Station have been collecting in Thanet for charity.

Firefighters have been out with the donations buckets to Margate high Street, Westwood Cross, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda.

Spokesman Steve March said: “The station has been busy collecting at various venues in the last seven days. The generosity of the community never ceases to amaze us and we would like to thank those who have donated this year. We have been at Westwood Cross, Sainsbury, Tesco and Asda which are all great for us to collect at and we really appreciate the support they give.

“We haven’t got the final amount yet, but it looks to be over £4000. Half of the donation will go to The Firefighters Charity. The remainder will be split between local charities -Rainbow ward QEQM, Age UK Thanet, Pilgrims Hospice Margate, East Kent Mencap and Oasis Women’s refuge,”
