Ramsgate Tunnels group pitches in to make sure East Cliff Winter Wotsit event goes ahead

The Winter Wotsit will be held at Ramsgate Tunnels

The East Cliff Community Group is holding the Winter Wotsit event (formerly Wassail) tomorrow (Sunday, December 15) and everyone is welcome.

Due to wind and rain forecast, the original venue at East Cliff bandstand has now changed and the Ramsgate Tunnels group has generously offered the venue for the event.

Event organiser Rebekah Smith said: “We are so pleased to be working with Ramsgate Tunnels, who have stepped forward to help us out for our annual winter event.  Being offered the tunnels as an alternative venue was a massive relief with wind and rain forecast for tomorrow afternoon and the East Cliff Community Group is extremely grateful to the tunnels team who actually have their own staff Christmas party planned for Sunday evening.

“In true community spirit though, they didn’t hesitate to say yes when they were approached.  I hope lots of people aren’t put off by the weather and still come along and take refuge in the tunnels tomorrow afternoon and enjoy good food, great music and a lovely atmosphere!”

The event starts at 4.30pm and free food created by Our Kitchen on The Isle of Thanet will be served while visitors listen to the sublime Ivan Hussey who has rushed back from touring with Snow Patrol to perform for the event.

Afterwards, there will be a Christmas Sing-a-long and mulled cider (small charge). The event finishes at 6.30pm.

Wrap up warm, bring a mug for the mulled cider (created using Our Kitchen’s secret recipe) and go along and meet the neighbours.
