Kickboxing champion receives funding boost ahead of World Championships

A five-time World Kickboxing Champion and one-time World Taekwondo Champion has received £500 to help support his bid to retain his titles in the sports.

Elliott, a former Business Administration apprentice at Broadstairs College, joined Master Wolf’s Academy of Taekwondo & Kickboxing in Margate aged 13. He secured his black belt in 2013 and has enjoyed great success at amateur level.

That success continued through to junior level where he held World titles in both Taekwondo and Kickboxing. Now the holder of five World Championships, which were won in Greece last year, Elliot is looking to the future.

With upcoming events in Ireland and Germany before the World Championships in Canada, the multiple belt holder said: “It’s been a challenging year, I’ve been recovering from injury since the start of the year, so a lot of the hard work has been done in the gym and behind the scenes. I’m looking forward to getting back to competing.”

“Broadstairs College and EKC Group have always been supportive of my competing, but these three years of sponsorship have allowed me use the best equipment and improve my preparation for events.”

“When asked about how the sport had helped him, Elliott said: “Learning any martial art teaches you discipline and determination. It has taught me to focus and that if you work hard anything is possible.”

Principal of Broadstairs College, Kurt Salter, presented Elliott with his third sponsorship cheque at EKC Group’s The Yarrow hotel on December 4.

Kurt said: “All of us here at Broadstairs College are immensely proud of the progress Elliott has made, in and out of the ring. It is a real honour to support our alumni and being able to contribute to Elliott’s exciting journey is incredibly important to Broadstairs College.”
