Chef Matt Sworder launches The Corner House Cookbook

Matt Sworder launches The Corner House Cookbook

Chef/owner of The Corner House restaurants in Minster and Canterbury, Matt Sworder, celebrated the release of his first ever cookbook with guests, family, friends and producers this month.

The launch  kicked off at Harbour Books in Whitstable on Saturday, May 11 where Matt offered The Corner House’s much-loved pork scratchings and sausage rolls to those browsing and buying copies of the signed books.

The Whitstable launch was followed by a celebratory reception at The Corner House in Minster on Wednesday, May 15. Guests enjoyed drinks and nibbles and had plenty of opportunity to chat with Matt about the book. Wines were sponsored by Page & Sons, the longstanding Kentish wine merchants featured in the book.

Matt said: “The Corner House Cookbook has been a huge undertaking that involved our fantastic team, family, friends and suppliers. As with any big project I felt both relieved and proud to have the final book in my hands.

“It has been really special to be able to share our hard work with guests and friends of both our restaurants. It’s a very exciting time for everyone involved who has helped make The Corner House a success and an opportunity to showcase the fantastic produce we have here in Kent.”

Simplicity is key in The Corner House Cookbook. It includes more than 40 recipes, carefully selected by Matt and his team to represent the most popular dishes from the past five years. The dishes are graded easy, medium and difficult, from a simple cauliflower soup to a slightly more challenging pea panna cotta with crab and apple.

The book also celebrates the fantastic produce available in and around Kent and features profiles of the restaurants’ key suppliers.

The Corner House Cookbook, priced at £20, is available from a range of stockings including both of The Corner House restaurants.
