Get involved with the first ever Westgate Day celebrations

Celebrating Westgate

Residents are being urged to celebrate their town with the launch of the first ever Westgate Day on July 21.

The community event will take place from noon to 9pm on the greens at Sea Road and will include a performance stage with local people and groups showcasing their talents. There will also be a fun fair and an artisan marketplace staged in both Ethelbert and Adrian Squares offering a wide range of produce, from local made crafts to food and drink.

Part of the initiative is to involve both young and old of the town such as schools, youth groups and care homes participating in Westgate-on Sea related projects, leading to a prize-giving on July 18. The projects encourage discovery of the town’s history, culture and environment as well as intergenerational relationships where young and not-so-young can learn from each other.

The celebration day on July 21 is for all locals and visitors to come together, enjoy the festivities, explore the town and have fun.

The newly-created Town Anniversary is to be on July 18 every year and will be known as Westgate Day,

The motto/tag for all social media is #Westgate Proud which people are being encouraged  to use now and, on the day, when posting images on social media.

Organisers  are still looking for additional stall holders for Ethelbert Square and Adrian Square to sell artisan crafts, food and drink. They are also looking for volunteer stewards.
