Man in court on charge of arson with intent to endanger life after Tesco Express fire

A 32-year-old man is to appear in court charged in connection with a fire at a Westbrook food store.

The store was cordoned off by police while fire crews dealt with a fire inside the building after a call out at 6am

Richard Stent, of Granville Street, Dover, was charged with one count of arson with intent to endanger life.

The charge follows a fire at Tesco Express in Canterbury Road yesterday (March 13).

Mr Stent appeared via virtual link at Medway Magistrates’ Court today and was remanded in custody.

He will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on April 11.
