Police appeal after teenager threatens boy in Broadstairs and steals his bike

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager with an air gun stole a boy’s BMX bike in Broadstairs.

The victim, a boy of secondary school age, was with friends by the swings in the park near The Silvers in Broadstairs when a teenager approached and spoke to the group.

During the conversation, the suspect asked to borrow the victim’s mountain bike before threatening him. He was seen to have an air weapon.

The suspect took the bike but a woman walking a dog nearby intervened and returned the bike to the victim.

The robbery was reported to have taken place at 4.40pm on February 23.

The suspect was described as a white boy, around 15 years old, between 5ft 3ins to 5ft 8ins tall with a slim build and short brown hair.

Detective Sergeant Claire Munday said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who might have been in the park at the time, especially the woman who helped to return the bicycle to the victim.”
