Case of teen charged with attack on Charles Dickens pupil to be heard at crown court

A 13-year-old girl charged with wounding with intent following a reported assault on a 12-year-old Charles Dickens pupil  will have her case heard at crown court.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Margate Youth Court yesterday (February 4) where magistrates decided to refer the case due to its serious nature.

She will next appear at a pre-trial preparatory hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on 4 March

On Thursday 29 November at around 3.30pm the victim suffered a head injury during an assault that took place in Arlington Gardens. Video of the incident which went viral on social media caused a public outcry.

The 13-year-old girl, and two 15-year-old girls were arrested on suspicion of assault.

One 15-year-old girl has been released without charge and the second 15-year-old girl remains under investigation.
