Cyclist taken to hospital following Newington Road crash

A male cyclist has been taken to hospital with a head injury after being hit by a car in Ramsgate this morning (October 4).

Police and the ambulance service were called to Newington Road, outside McColls, at 8.33am.

A school child called emergency services and three members of the public helped the man until ambulance crews arrived.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police received a report of a collision involving a car and a man riding a bike in Ramsgate at 8.33am on Thursday 4 October.

“Officers are at the scene in Newington Road along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service where a man has been taken to hospital.”

A South East Coast Ambulance service spokesman added: “One ambulance crew attended the scene following reports of an collision involving a car and a bicycle at approximately 8.25am this morning.

“A man, (the cyclist), had suffered injuries including a head injury and was treated before being taken to QEQM Hospital in Margate.”
